The Poet’s Vault opened on South Boulevard because Charlotte needed a record store that took the music seriously. Not a boutique with vinyl as decor. Not a shop that stocks only what’s safe and familiar. A real digger’s store — the kind where you come in for one thing and leave an hour later with five records you didn’t know you needed.
We named it The Poet’s Vault because that’s what a great record collection is — a vault of voices, stories, and moments that deserve to be preserved and heard. Every genre has its poets. Delta blues, hardcore punk, bossa nova, hip-hop, free jazz — the form changes but the impulse is the same. We stock all of it.
We’re located at 6424 South Boulevard, Suite B — right beside the Sleepy Poet Antique Mall, which tells you a lot about the neighborhood and the vibe. South Boulevard has become one of the best stretches in Charlotte for people who like their weekends analog, and we’re proud to be part of it.
We carry new and used vinyl across every genre, CDs, cassettes, and select memorabilia. We do Record Store Day twice a year — April and Black Friday — and we take buying collections seriously. If you’ve got records to sell or trade, bring them in.
Come see us. The bins are deep and the coffee shop next door is good.
